  • Safer chemicals might not be quite as effective as what was once used, but they also are less corrosive and do less damage to customers’ cars and your equipment. And prices one these safer chemicals have dropped in recent years.
  • Let customers know when you make changes. Not all upgrades will be obvious. When you switch to eco-friendly chemicals or some other ‘behind the scenes modification,’ announce it on your webpage and store signage. Most customers will appreciate your efforts, and the move will likely make them more loyal. (And although no one likes to discuss it, it could also help justify a cost increase.)
  • Let your people know. Employees take pride when their employer elevates the company’s environmental responsibility. They will feel a stake in helping improve their world. They will be more productive. And they might even mention it to a customer or two.
